Basic Clear Aligner Course
This course is a foundational clear aligner programme that introduces dentists to aligner therapy, empowering early-career clinicians and students to approach aligner treatment with clinical confidence and an integrative orthodontic mindset.
We begin with the core principles, establishing a clear understanding of clear aligner therapy, biomechanics of tooth movement, and appropriate case selection. The student will learn the fundamentals of clear aligners and the basic skills essential for identifying risks and optimizing patient outcomes from the outset.
As the course progresses, the student will gain insight into aligner biomechanics, including how attachments influence movement, how to plan for predictability, and how to design aligner staging within biological limits. Through structured hands-on sessions, participants will gain practical experience using aligner planning software to simulate tooth movement, manage simple malocclusions, and create effective staging protocols.
In addition, the course introduces the aligner manufacturing workflow, covering digital scanning, 3D printing, thermoforming, and an overview of material selection. This module demystifies in-house production processes, preparing clinicians for both lab-based collaboration and chairside efficiency.
We conclude with a clinical implementation module, covering key techniques for attachment placement, interproximal reduction (IPR), aligner fitting, monitoring protocols, and occlusal adjustments. Emphasis is placed on long-term retention strategies and troubleshooting common issues in early cases.
By the end of the program, participants will have a comprehensive, clinically grounded understanding of how to initiate clear aligner therapy, integrating best practices in occlusion and digital orthodontic planning into their daily dental workflows.
A- Theoretical Basic Modules (Fees: £200).
B- Practical Basic Modules (Fees: £250).
Course Instructor
Dr. Ahmad M. ElShennawy
Ph.D. Researcher | MSc. Orthodontics | International Aligner Speaker
This course is led by Dr. Ahmad M. ElShennawy, a distinguished orthodontist and a leading figure in the field of clear aligner therapy. Dr. ElShennawy is a Ph.D. researcher and holds a Master’s degree in Orthodontics from Ain Shams University, one of the region’s most reputable institutions in dental education.
He currently serves as the Director and Assistant Lecturer at the Innovative Digital Center for Orthodontics at The British University in Egypt, where he plays a key role in integrating digital technologies into orthodontic training and practice. With a passion for advancing digital orthodontics, Dr. ElShennawy has lectured internationally on the clinical and biomechanical aspects of clear aligner systems, helping practitioners worldwide elevate their clinical outcomes.
In addition to his academic and clinical expertise, he is the CEO of HighLign, a pioneering company specializing in the development and manufacturing of innovative clear aligners. His unique blend of academic leadership, clinical experience, and entrepreneurial insight brings a comprehensive and forward-thinking perspective to aligner education.
Dr. ElShennawy’s teaching approach bridges fundamental orthodontic principles with practical digital workflows, empowering clinicians to adopt clear aligner therapy with confidence, precision, and a deep understanding of occlusion and TMJ health.
